 Focal Point InteractiveFocal Point Interactive*

The structure is 2.7m high, 1.5m wide and 3m long, and consists of five interactive elements:
  • Height scanner; this measures the height of a child (range 50 - 120cm)
  • Voice transformer; children talk into a microphone and can change the pitch of their voice from deep to high (Darth Vader to Pinky and Perky)
  • Feely boxes; the structure has three feely boxes which allow the children to guess by touch what is inside. A button then clears the screen to see if their guess is correct
  • Tube Fone; essentially a long length of plastic tubing which allows a child to talk to a friend at the other end
  • Sound effects; the exhibit has a tunnel with sensors at each end, a sound is played as the children walk through

In addition, the top uses a revolving gobo to produce red, blue, green and white lighting effect.

Hands On Interactive were responsible for the ideas, design and development and manufacture of the interactive elements. Conran Design Group designed the structure and we developed it in order for it to conform to CE safety regulations. In all, ten Focal Points were built for the largest Boots stores in the country.
